I know the spider needs to eat;

I know that little beeís a treat.

Yet all the same, it makes my day

to watch the victim fly away.

I have no problem with the cause

or acting out of Natureís laws.

The system on the whole is fine,

whether or not it is Divine.

Itís not a matter of whatís Just;

what happens, happens, as it must.

Still, I rejoice when somethingís plight

is thwarted through escape or flight.

It may be, somehow, deep within

it grates to see the stronger win,

or simply that Iíve known the feel

of venomed bite, of grinding heel.
